Chad Johnson Jersey, Terrell Owens Jersey tweet at Giants in wake of Odell Beckham Jr. injury

When Odell Beckham Jr. went down with an ankle injury, New York Giants fans’ hearts stopped. But for some former players, this was an opportunity.

This is hardly shocking, considering Johnson is well-known for his Twitter antics, while T.O. has pulled this stunt before on Twitter, hinting at a job offer.

The thing is, Johnson hasn’t played since 2011. And Owens? He is 43 and last played in an NFL game in 2010.

Limited Mens Detroit Red Wings Jersey So let’s be real; this would be more than a long shot for these guys. Still, Owens doesn’t think so.

He claims he can still run a 4.4-second 40-yard dash and said it’s a joke he’s not on a team roster.

Well, dream big, I guess.

Leonard Fournette, Jacksonville Jaguars, ankle, 1:00 p.m. ET: A foot injury in the preseason and an ankle injury in his last year at LSU had some worried about the health of Fournette coming into his rookie year. So far, his performance has quieted that concern, but Fournette does turn up on the injury report this week. There haven’t been many details about what’s ailing his ankle, but back-to-back full practices Thursday and Friday, along with removal from the pregame injury report, reassure us about Fournette’s Sunday status against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Patrick Roy Jersey LeSean McCoy, Buffalo Bills, wrist, 1:00 p.m. ET: McCoy continues to be listed on the practice injury report because of his wrist, but he remains a full participant and once again is off the pregame injury report.

The Bills handed both the Falcons and Broncos their only losses of this young season.

Sean McVay is the early front-runner for Coach of the Year for his work with second-year quarterback Jared Goff, who’s thriving so far after playing only seven forgettable games as a rookie. The former No. 1 overall pick still has a ways to go before he has the complete confidence of his coaches and fans. But the Rams are 3-1 with a chance to deal a body blow to the division-rival Seahawks this week. And if the improvements to the roster and the offensive scheme are real enough to stick, maybe the Rams don’t have to be in the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes next March after all.

Defense wins championships (the Broncos should know). It’s why the Bills are sitting atop the AFC East while the Patriots look on from 2-2. Here’s how all 32 teams (and their defenses) stack up.

Clay: Neither. The Rams have been impressive, but after facing the Colts, Redskins, 49ers and Cowboys defenses, I wonder how the offense will perform against an absurdly tough slate the rest of the way that includes the Jaguars, Giants, Texans, Vikings and Eagles, in addition to the Seahawks and Cardinals twice each. The Bills are a fringe team, but it won’t be easy fending off New England for the division or fellow wild-card contenders like the Raiders, Broncos, Texans, Titans and Ravens.

Foxworth: Buffalo. Those are more impressive wins than the Rams beating the Colts, 49ers and Cowboys. The Rams’ offensive improvement deserves the praise we’ve heaped on it. But, in my experience, a tough defense makes for a more reliable team. And that’s what the Bills have. Tyrod Taylor and the Bills’ offense have made the plays that they need to win, but they haven’t been great. That’s in part because they haven’t been able to get LeSean McCoy on track. If they can figure out how to reignite that punishing and explosive running game from a year ago, the Bills will certainly be a viable contender at the end of the season.patriots_303-180x180

Rob Gronkowski Jersey frustrated by ‘inconsistent’ pass interference calls

Rob Gronkowski had two receptions against the Panthers Sunday negated because of offensive pass interference calls.

The Patriots tight end said Tuesday he would like to see a little more consistency from officials.

If the consistency was there 100 percent then I’d be cool whatever it is, Gronkowski said Tuesday. But one week we’re told we can play [and] it really isn’t going to be called. They can hold and you can slap off their hands and then the next week it’s if you touch the guy it’s a P.I. I just wish I knew the consistency so then I can base my game off that in practice and be prepared for the game and know the rules going in.

Peters was the last Chiefs player to be pulled from the incident.

Peters, who rarely speaks to reporters during the week, was not in the locker room Wednesday.

He spoke volumes after the game, though, telling reporters in front of his locker that I killed my damn self” by giving up the touchdown catches. He claimed that Pryor pushed off on the first, but that’s the game of football.” And he ultimately called his performance hella weak.”

Peters also drew the ire of many fans for sitting during the national anthem, something that he’s done regularly since last year, even though he stood with the rest of the Chiefs for a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Las Vegas shooting.

Asked whether the message Peters is trying to deliver by sitting has gotten lost amid his antics, Reid replied: I’m just going to leave it with the statement that I mentioned.”

Eagles RB Darren Sproles Jersey out ‘indefinitely’ with broken arm, report says

The Eagles’ running back committee received a blow Sunday when Darren Sproles exited the game with an injury.

According to, the speedy scatback suffered a broken arm and is out “indefinitely.” The report also stated that Sproles is expected to undergo an MRI Monday to learn more about the extent of the injury.

The Eagles improved to 2-1 on the season with a 27-24 win over the Giants, but losing Sproles long term would force Philadelphia to change their game plan.

Nick Novak Jersey Sproles, 34, has 12 carries for 50 yards and seven receptions for 73 yards this season.

The 13-year veteran said in December, via, that this could be his final season in an NFL uniform.

Marshall Newhouse Mens Jersey A successful conversion wouldn’t have won the game for the Texans, but it would have put them well on their way to victory. With 2:28 and one timeout left for the Patriots, a Houston first down would have allowed the Texans to run the clock down to about 32 seconds before attempting a field goal that would have put them up five. Brady still would have had a shot, and the Texans could have missed the field goal, but after making hyper-conservative decisions as a huge underdog against New England in the playoffs last season, it’s disheartening to see O’Brien make the same mistakes in Foxborough yet again.

I think O’Brien should have gone for it, but in terms of how the game actually played out, I don’t think his decision cost the Texans the game by any stretch of the imagination. Fairbairn hit the field goal. The Texans’ defense eventually cracked, but it took some miraculous conversions and a bit of luck. The Patriots had to convert on one series from a second-and-20 and then, on the next series, from a third-and-18. The pass rush drew one holding penalty and stripsacked Brady later in the drive, only for the Patriots to recover.

Will the Saints give Adrian Peterson Jersey all the carries he wants?

Peterson earned only six touches in New Orleans’ season opener — fewer than rookie Alvin Kamara. His face on the sideline during the Saints’ 29-19 loss to the Vikings said it all.

After the loss, Peterson said the exchange with Payton was overblown, but he also didn’t sign up for nine snaps per game with the Saints this season.

Peterson wasn’t the player he once was to kick off his 11th season in the league, rushing for only 18 yards while his replacement in Minnesota, rookie Dalvin Cook, torched New Orleans for 127 yards. Can Peterson harness his frustration and return to his All-Day form?

Miles Plumlee Game Jersey Ok, so it’s not exactly a reason to be excited about watching Jackson against Clemson, but it’d be smart and realistic to temper expectations a bit.

NFL fan, do not judge Lamar based only on this game, SB Nation’s college football editor Jason Kirk warned. If he balls out, like he did last year, be astounded.

The key matchup — and the biggest reason Clemson is a road favorite — was the Louisville offensive line’s dubious matchup against the Clemson defensive line. And the Tigers got the better of it in their 47-21 win.

The Cardinals’ offensive line allowed Jackson to be hit far too often in 2016 and is still a big question mark in 2017 with three new starters. Meanwhile, the Tigers ate up Auburn last week to the tune of 11 sacks — nearly breaking a school record.

If an NFL fan is looking for more than just a quarterback when they tune in for Louisville and Clemson, defensive tackle Christian Wilkins is a hell of a place to start. The 310-pound defensive tackle is athletic enough to do the splits and was the first defensive lineman off the board in Kadar’s 2018 mock draft.

Brian Urlacher Game Jersey We cautioned you to temper your expectations for Jackson on Saturday, but it was a good chance to watch him handle a lot of pressure.

Corey Coleman placed on IR after breaking his hand again

Cleveland Browns receiver Corey Coleman suffered a broken right hand against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 and will miss significant time, Hue Jackson announced on Monday. Coleman injured the same hand last year, and missed six games without having surgery.

On Tuesday, the Browns placed Coleman on injured reserve, who can return after eight weeks:

What happened? With 13:15 left in the Browns-Ravens matchup, Coleman left the field after colliding with cornerback Marlon Humphrey. Both men were trying to make a play on the ball, but the pass fell incomplete. Coleman landed hard on his right hand, which is the same hand he broke in 2016. He was in serious pain and held his right hand close to his body.

Things were going well enough, perfectly average anyway, for Brissett and the Colts until the last drive of regulation. A sack fumble lost them 8 yards, but Anthony Castonzo was at fault there, failing to block Chandler Jones and then getting flagged for holding on third down, forcing the Colts to punt.

On the first play of overtime, Brissett was picked off by Tyrann Mathieu at the Colts 21-yard line. Two plays later it set up a field goal for the Cardinals, giving them the win.

Brissett was still a better play than Tolzien for the Colts. But there’s only so much the quarterback can do. The Colts are terrible. There’s virtually no talent on the roster. There’s only so much an average backup is going to do for the Colts.

To get Brissett, the Colts sent little-used receiver Phillip Dorsett to the Patriots. He caught three passes for 68 yards, including two passes for more than 20.

He gave the Patriots a couple of big plays, which was touted as his specialty coming into the league. But somehow the Colts never found a way to get him the ball. He only had one game with the Colts were he had more than 68 yards.

Dorsett was the Colts’ first-round pick in 2015. All they needed to do to make him effective was send him to New England.

Sammy Watkins Jersey was limited to two catches for 30 yards against the Redskins on Sunday.

That disappointing production came despite only running seven routes against Josh Norman. Watkins has now caught all seven of his targets for 88 yards in his two games in Los Angeles. On the plus side, Watkins was on the field for 97 percent of the Rams’ pass plays, which was way up from 68 percent in Week 1. Watkins’ target share will inevitably rise, and though he still has a very tough schedule as cornerback matchups go this season, he will benefit from good matchups against the 49ers and Cowboys the next two weeks. Fire him up as a flex.

Don’t make Tom angry. You wouldn’t like Tom when he’s angry.

On second thought, fantasy players most certainly would like Tom Brady when he’s angry — or in this case, reeling from an embarrassing, unexpected loss in the Thursday night Week 1 opener — as we’re the ones who reap the statistical rewards. Brady lit up the New Orleans Saints’ defense, leading his New England Patriots to a 36-20 victory in which he managed 30.8 fantasy points — best-among the early Sunday games.

As we do each week, we recap the week’s winners and losers from a fantasy perspective, complete with applicable game and historical data. Check back after the conclusion of the 1 and 4 p.m. ET (and, when applicable, Sunday Night Football) games for our picks of the week’s best and worst.

Sherman didn’t practice Wednesday or Thursday, but he returned as a limited participant Friday.

Game Womens Lance Kendricks Jersey Sherman played in all 82 of Seattle’s defensive snaps in a Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Sherman was dealing with the injury during the game.

Sherman has never missed a game since entering the league in 2011; Carroll said Sherman has reminded him of that this week.

Eddie Lacy returning to Lambeau Field vs. replacement Ty Montgomery is the distant undercard to the passing duel between Russell Wilson Jersey and Aaron Rodgers Jersey.

The Packers quarterback found comfort against the Seahawks’ defense last season, and Wilson, fully healthy, will be have his team at full speed to match. It’s an opening thriller worthy of the late window with Wilson, back near his final college stomping grounds, making the big decisive play late against the weaker defense. Seahawks win 27-24.
Youth Reuben Foster Jersey
This was a back-and-forth game, as Philadelphia dominated the first half, but only led 16-14 at halftime. Washington took a 19-17 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Eagles scored 11 points in the final 2:02, including a 20-yard fumble return for a touchdown by defensive tackle Fletcher Cox to cover the spread.

Detroit ran off 26 straight points in the second half to rally from behind and beat the Cardinals. Miles Killebrew’s 35-yard interception return capped the flurry by the Lions and made Carson Palmer’s late touchdown pass to J.J. Nelson meaningless.

This was one of a handful of games that changed favorites in the weeks leading up to Sunday. The Lions opened as small favorites, but the Cardinals closed as consensus 2-point favorites. This was the only game to go over the total in the early kickoffs.

Youth Kenneth Acker Jersey With the loss of Danny Woodhead to a hamstring injury, Allen out-snapped teammate Terrence West 29 to 25 and was called on to stay in as a blocker only once during the seven passing plays he participated in. While the Cleveland Browns seemingly clamped down on Le’Veon Bell, that was likely a product of Bell missing all of training camp and the preseason more than a positive development for the Browns, who allowed the second-most points to opposing running backs in 2016.

J.J. Watt Jersey Harvey-relief drive passes $10M mark

J.J. Watt’s drive to raise money for Hurricane Harvey relief passed a remarkable milestone Thursday, pushing past the $10 million mark, the Texans defensive end tweeted.

Absolutely incredible, he wrote in a post accompanied by a video. The $10 million represents 50 times more than Watt’s initial goal of raising $200,000.

In the video accompanying the news, Watt thanked those who have donated and said some of the money already is being used to help those affected in Texas.
James Van Riemsdyk Game Jersey
We’re filling the semi trucks as we speak. Many people have donated their trucks, their time, donated food, water, clothing, generators, things like that, Watt said. We’re going to get those trucks down here by this weekend. … The tentative plan is Sunday we’re going to have a bunch of my teammates help me out in a few different locations around town to be determined, and we’re going to hand out those supplies.
Alex Ovechkin Game Jersey
We’re basically trying to find, A) the safest areas we can get to — obviously we don’t want to put anybody in danger — but then, B) the areas that need it the absolute most. So, we’re going to try and set up — literally, it’s going to be open up the back of a semi truck and start handing out water, start handing out clothes.

A team can never have enough depth on the defensive line (especially with the recent injury history of the Bears), so it will be shocking if Robertson-Harris isn’t on the final roster.

The Leos get little respect as a returning playoff team with Jim Caldwell, but there’s plenty of reason to keep respecting counterpart Bruce Arians. Detroit’s defense doesn’t have answers for Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald or David Johnson. Matthew Stafford faces a much trickier pressure package and secondary, especially when Ameer Abdulllah and the running game are contained. The Cards’ desert drive to Ford Field is fruitful. Cardinals win 27-23 and cover the spread.

Panthers’ Ron Rivera thinks Cam Newton ‘is ready’ for Week 1

Quarterback Cam Newton played one drive in the preseason for the Panthers. His head coach thinks that was enough for the 2015 NFL MVP.

“I think he’s ready,” Rivera said Sunday (via ESPN). “You wish he’d had a few more snaps and played a little bit earlier in the preseason so we’d have more to go on. But what we saw, we liked. We liked how everything seems to be meshing together as an offense. We’ll see how it goes as we continue to work this week.”

Both Hageman’s exemption and release came after he was investigated by the NFL for a domestic violence incident in March 2016 in Georgia. According to, the criminal proceedings in the case concluded in late August, leading to his move to the exempt list.

Hageman pleaded guilty to the charges.

The charges stemmed from an incident in which Hageman “pulled the hair of the mother of his child and pushed her down in the parking lot outside of her apartment, causing her to sustain lacerations on her left hand and elbow. Hageman then took her phone, preventing her from calling 911. This incident happened in front of the couple’s child.”

Hageman was fined $7,500 for the misdemeanor charges of interfering with a call for emergency help, battery family violence and cruelty to children in the third degree.bears_018-223x223
