What will the San Francisco 49ers be thinking in the 2017 NFL Draft?

Yes. Even after Texas A&M edge rusher Myles Garrett (presumably) goes No. 1 to the Browns, the 49ers would be reaching if they tried to jump on a quarterback. The team also is not in a luxury position to take another offensive skill player, and the best offensive linemen in this class aren’t worth such high picks.

Although a safety such as LSU’s Jamal Adams or Ohio State’s Malik Hooker wouldn’t be shocking, San Francisco’s choice should come down to a couple of defensive lineman, Stanford’s Solomon Thomas or Alabama’s Jonathan Allen. Thomas is a better scheme fit and has the better overall pass-rush potential wherever he lines up in the 3-4. GM John Lynch can kick off his drafting career with a fellow Cardinal product who can be a cornerstone.

But will any of these first-round series end in an upset? The consensus from our panel is no. The Clippers-Jazz matchup is the closest, but most of our voters believe Los Angeles will emerge. Even Houston-Oklahoma City, which is a competitive battle between top MVP candidates Russell Westbrook and James Harden, is a series most believe the favorite will win.

That said, most of us are expecting these series to go long. Only a few of us predicted sweeps, even with the most lopsided of series.

The cliche is that leaders lead by example, but a leader’s true power comes from the authority that his subordinates grant him. There’s not much Chris Paul can do when he scores and scores, yet no one responds to his example. There’s not much that he can do when he forces turnovers even against bigger opponents, and his teammates turn around and give up easy buckets. There’s not much that he can do when he creates and his teammates miss great opportunities.

Heres how we picked the Raptors-Bucks series.

The following showdown is an interesting three-six matchup between the stacked Toronto Raptors and a Milwaukee Bucks team led by Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Raptors welcomed back Kyle Lowry from a wrist injury and ended the regular season as one of the hottest teams in the league. Its a tall order for a Bucks team just scratching the surface of what they can accomplish in the future.

Saturdays third game is a grind-it-out matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies. The Spurs have a new face, Kawhi Leonard, who makes the show run on both ends of the floor. The Grizzlies still have Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, and Marc Gasol, but itll be tough for Memphis to compete with San Antonios sustained excellence over the years.

Because if hes hurt or on the Dallas Keuchel path to enigma town, the White Sox surrrrrrrre screwed up.

Is it too early to worry about that? Of course it is! Two starts, two schmarts. Velocitys good. Hes still left-handed. A substantial back catalog of excellent starts. I want my team to trade for him right now.

At the same time, this is the future for the White Sox. Once they decided they werent going to chase the rainbow dreams of a Chris Sale/Quintana/Carlos Rodon future, they wholly committed to the idea of rebuilding. That idea includes trading someone like Quintana for all the prospects, including that one. They decided to slow-play it, though, possibly because they werent enamored of the packages the Astros and Cardinals were offering, which is perfectly understandable and fine.

Soon after a stunning Super Bowl victory, Patriots players Devin McCourty and Chris Long — along with teammates Dont’a Hightower, Alan Branch, LeGarrette Blount and Martellus Bennett — announced that they would forgo the tradition of visiting the White House due to the election of President Donald Trump.

Bryant was suspended last March after failing multiple drug tests, derailing the career of one of the leagues top young wideouts. Bryant, 25, averaged 17.3 yards on 76 catches during his first two seasons and scored 14 touchdowns.

Bryant has shared videos of his training and a photo of his infant son wearing a Steelers beanie on Instagram in recent weeks, all of which can be considered positive signs of a turnaround. Bryant also posted a photo Friday of Steelers chairman Dan Rooney, who died Thursday at age 84 , with the message, RIP Mr. Rooney may God be with his family.

The way its looking, Bryant should soon be back with his Steelers family soon enough. The main reason Im giving my vote to Green is because of the full array of defensive talents he brings to the floor. He can guard everyone from ball handlers to bigs, and often switches onto both in the normal flow of a possession. His ability to cover so much ground, and from so many different angles, allows the Warriors to play their devastating small lineups.

Judge dismisses rape charge against former ex-DT Ray McDonald

A Santa Clara County judge has dismissed a rape charge against former San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Ray McDonald after prosecutors said the woman who made the allegation refused to testify.
Authentic Kids Rickie Weeks Jersey
Judge David A. Cena dismissed the charge — one count of rape of an intoxicated person — on Monday. Santa Clara County prosecutor Chris Lamiero said in a statement that he tried to convince the victim to testify, but she refused.

The 49ers released Ray McDonald in December 2014, citing a “pattern of poor decision-making.”
The woman said she slipped and fell on a pool deck at McDonald’s San Jose home in December 2014 and continued to fall after that because of her initial head injury and alcohol consumption. She accused McDonald of carrying her upstairs to his bedroom and sexually assaulting her.

Felix Hernandez and Mike Trout gave us the at-bat of the year so far in MLB

The best player in baseball and one of the best pitchers in the game squared off for an epic at-bat on Saturday night. Mike Trout and Felix Hernandez hooked up for a 14-pitch affair in the first inning in Anaheim.

Trout, the Angels superstar with two MVP awards and three runner-up finishes in his first five MLB seasons, fouled off nine pitches from the Seattle Mariners ace. But Hernandez, the 2010 AL Cy Young Award winner and two-time runner-up, got the better of the battle with a strikeout looking.

Hernandez also struck out Trout in the third inning and held the outfielder to 0-for-3 on the night, a rare bit of success against Trout, who is hitting .367/.409/.734 with seven home runs against Hernandez, the most home runs he has allowed to any player.

Hernandez left after six innings with a 3-3 tie, then Trout feasted off the Mariners bullpen, hitting a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning in the Angels’ 5-4 win.

But that 14-pitch at-bat was sure fun to watch.

This will be the 4-5 matchup, but home-court is still up in the air. A Clippers win in San Antonio, combined with a Jazz loss to a red-hot Damian Lillard and the Blazers, allowed L.A. to leap ahead. Utah closes with the top two teams in the West, so L.A. has the edge.

Current tiebreaker: The Clippers hold a 3-1 advantage over Utah.

The Premier League title race is still dead, but considering reanimation

Elite Brandon Williams Jersey For months now, the Premier League title race has been dead. Thoroughly dead. Propped up in the corner of the room, stiff and grey and cold, a peaceful smile upon its frozen face. Condolences have been received, funeral arrangements have been made, and the will has been read: Chelsea are getting the silverware. It’s been dead for so long that, compared to the very much alive relegation, Top Four, and Manchester United vs. Sixth Place battles, it’s almost faded into the background.

And while it鈥檚 not like we can make any grand proclamations after one game 鈥?only five of the six division winners won their first game last year, after all 鈥?that doesn鈥檛 mean we can鈥檛 learn anything on Opening Day.

Elite Kris Bryant Jersey On the other hand, it seems safe to say Nantz means well. He鈥檚 only trying to do something nice that has personal significance in his world.

Yaron Weitzman wrote a detailed feature for The Ringer on Nantz鈥檚 tie-giving tradition. It began with Florida鈥檚 Brewer in 2006, when the two shared a nice moment on the court after the title game. For context, Brewer鈥檚 dad had been dealing with health problems and couldn鈥檛 make the game. Here鈥檚 Nantz with Weitzman:

Here are some lessons about the first day of 2017 baseball, then. Some of the lessons are more important than other lessons, but the most important lesson is that just because one game out of 162 games doesn鈥檛 have to mean everything, that doesn鈥檛 mean it鈥檚 completely devoid of meaning.

Yes, the first pitch of the 2017 season was thrown in a dome, with catwalks and man-made abstractions blocking out our communal source of life, and that was an abomination.

The Mets’ rotation isn’t in trouble yet, but they’ve gone from having incredible

We won in ’05; we never got invited. I don’t know if we’re going to get invited this time. That’s a bad way to put it.

They invited us in September when they were doing a lot of teams. Well, all my team were already at the NBA training camp and two of them in Europe. So we didn’t go in ’05. And we did go in ’09.

But, you know, the office of the presidency of the United States is the most fantastic place you can be. But let me think on it.

Again, I don’t know that we’re going to get invited. I really don’t. But I know one thing, we’re putting up a nice banner in the Smith Center that’s hard to get.
Authentic Mens Logan Ryan Jersey Last month at the ACC tournament, Williams was critical of Trump. “Our president tweets out more bullshit than anybody I’ve ever seen,” he said, as part of a longer answer to a mostly unrelated question.”

The Mets’ rotation isn’t in trouble yet, but they’ve gone from having incredible, enviable depth to having almost none in a matter of weeks. Seth Lugo has gone from maybe just missing the start of the season with some fatigue in his arm to having a “significant” elbow injury. Noah Syndergaard is dealing with a blister, and was removed from his Opening Day start early because of it. Zack Wheeler is around after missing two seasons due to Tommy John surgery, but his workload is limited because of all that. Steven Matz was supposed to be in the rotation all year, but instead his elbow kept him off the regular season roster, and now it turns out he might need significant time to recover.
Authentic Mens Marcus Sherels Jersey
Despite all this, the Mets still have Syndergaard — a blister can be a problem, but it’s not the end of the world, as his strong first start of the year reminds — as well as Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Robert Gsellman, and whatever number of innings they have planned for Wheeler.

York said the Niners will try to fill that void.

Brian Galliford at Buffalo Rumblings used some pretty awesome slides to break down how the Jets were able to slow Spiller in Week 3, and concludes that formation monotony and poor execution by the Bills were the major contributing factors:
Womens Jacob Josefson Jersey
Womens Courtney Upshaw Jersey The first thing worth noting: a lot of Spiller’s runs were packaged play, read-option calls out of very similar alignments, and New York was very clearly ready for those plays. E.J. Manuel made some poor reads in the read-option, Buffalo had plenty of blocking breakdowns against the Jets’ stout front seven, and Spiller wasn’t particularly effective setting up blocks or reading holes, either.

York said the Niners will try to fill that void.

“We might do more in terms of philanthropic outreach and some of the things that we do in the community,” York said. “Obviously, there are underserved areas in the East Bay, and I think that’s a place where we’ll probably try to do more in the long run.鈥?

Head coach Jack Del Rio noted on NFL Network Tuesday that relocation will be difficult for fans, but it won鈥檛 necessarily turn them away from the team.

“We have some real die-hards,” Del Rio said. “I’m sure there will be some people that are angry and won’t, or can’t get over it and that’s understandable.

鈥淭here’s a large contingency, a large group that are true Raiders fans and it really doesn’t matter to them where we’re playing.”

When the Rams moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles, the Kansas City Chiefs opened their arms to disgruntled fans. It鈥檚 a tough sell, and fans who aren鈥檛 willing to follow the team to Las Vegas could just as easily choose to root against the Raiders than embrace a different team.
